Has anyone noticed the site being occasionally slow or unresponsive?

Has anyone noticed the site being occasionally slow or unresponsive? I’ve been seeing some slowdowns on the site in the last few months. I’ve called my server guys and they deleted a bunch of “zombie processes” but that hasn’t stopped this from being slow sometimes.

The server guys say everything is fine, but I’m not so sure. Considering that the code on the site is really simple, and it’s not any more graphics/memory intensive than it’s been in the last 5 years, you’d think it would run lightning fast today, but I swear when it’s slow, it’s the slowest Its been in a decade.

Maybe I’m being paranoid but I seem to recall a while back there was a lot of talk about if Net Neutrality went away, that the powers that be could make different tiers of speed on the internet. Am I just imagining things to think that has anything to do with it?

Please give me your feedback, discuss.

Thank you,

-Tara

PS. working on a lot of stuff, I’ll be making a real blog post very soon!

    Hi Tara,
It seems to have variable speed, sometimes pages load very quickly, other times slowly.
On the Picture galleries the same, sometimes photos load very quickly and other times not at all.
A refresh of the page sometimes clears the problem, which then might re-occur later on.
I thought it might be my DSL connection, but having seen this post, perhaps not.
I have a 12Mb line and am using Google Chrome Version 57.0.2987.133 ping about 133ms from the UK.

Same here as Biandy40, Miss Tara. For the past two weeks at least. I’m on crumbcast at 110 mps and don’t notice the same lag on any other website. It does seem that something is amiss at your provider’s end. :( Hope you can work it out.

Yeah this is fucking goddamn unacceptable. I thought this shit was supposed to get faster as computer power increased exponentially, but for some dumbass reason, It’s like we’re back in 2002 and waiting for pictures to load on my bondi blue imac at a 56k modem speed.

    What the actual fuck.

I have the same problem but I think it is mostly because of google chrome, but some of it could very well be my provider they seam to be screwing with it more then they did before. My speed is about 300 mbps but does vary at times, wish it was like before when I got a full Gig but stuff happens.

Since this post, they’ve moved the whole site over to another server. It might another day or so for everything to readjust. I’ll be monitoring it closely to see if the problems persist.

My Norton ConnectSafe keeps flagging when accessing the site- not sure if you’re still having issues, but you’ve may have a fake AV redirect on the server which means it may have been been compromised to a certain extent:

Also- the big movie download that happens every time you access the site is a bit annoying.
