Last night I could tell I was getting over the worst of my cold. Oh the joy of being able to think logically and not be some sort of zombie!
So this morning when I got up, I was still a little tickly in the throat, but my disposition was much improved. And I had enough gumption to throw together two shoots.
Rather than concentrating on the unfinished set to “Aviatrix”, I went for two comparatively “easy” shoots instead. Easy meaning they were existing outfits that I either shot in new locations and/or with a few different bits and pieces.
One is a new interpretation of my old green gingham “Daisy Dick” outfit, cranked up a bit higher in the big haired blond bimbo department. The natural light on my patio was hit or miss though, so this set will likely be around 125 pictures. Why is it that when you want to do a shoot outdoors, that’s exactly the moment the sun goes behind a cloud?
Other than the trashy blond hair, the other changes I made was to paint and work up a pair of heels to match the outfit. Sadly halfway through the shoot the right shoe broke in a rather bad way, but until that point, they were the nicest re-trimmed shoes I’d ever, um.. re-trimmed…
The other set was a long-awaited update to the old “Fuchsia Fetish” outfit from many, many years ago. Though the corset and matching bra was not an original outfit of mine ( I believe they’re a Versatile Fashions corset), it fits my aesthetic very well. And with the addition of a over-the top bow and this wonderful amazing new pink wig I got, I’ve cranked the cute candyness up to “11” now, or maybe all the way up to “37”. And though the background and the concept of the costume is similar to “Nurse Pinky”, I did have a LOT of people who loved that look, and wanted me to explore that further.
This may be far and above the USRDA of pink that you should have in one day. But it was another outfit that worked with my pink and white striped backdrop. Actually it’s a painted wall in my studio and I may soon retire the stripes, since they’re getting used a lot. Perhaps if I keep up this momentum I’ll bang out a few more super-amazing-make-your-eyeballs-bleed-hot-pink outfits before I repaint the wall.
I do like taking old bits and pieces of outfits and switching them up a bit here and there, and I think this came out better than expected. With the fuchsia fox fur shrug, some amazingly groovy pink jeweled Pleaser shoes and probably the longest fake lashes I’ve ever worn, I hope you’ll agree this is a really nice direction. I think I’m going to call the shoot “Fierce Fuchsia”.
So both of these shoots will be going up on my site ASAP since it’s been a while. And might I make a suggestion- if you let your membership lapse, now is a good time to re-join.
After some bumps in the road, I’m getting some momentum back (finally!), and I want to keep building upon this. I’m already working on the next couple of sets and the next couple of radical re-interpretations of my past work, and it’s going to be exciting!!
